Matthew 6:1-6, 16-21

“Here’s what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won’t be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.” Matthew 6:6 (The Message)

The season of Lent is about repenting and shifting focus from ourselves to God, and it begins today, Ash Wednesday.

To repent means to turn or shift away from the things that keep us from giving our full attention to God, and to turn to the One who forgives and gives us life. To believe is to place our trust in and give ourselves over to God.

During Lent make a habit of finding that quiet secluded place and be there with God as simply and honestly as you can manage. Notice that it is when you are with God, your focus shifts from you to God.

Lord, in this Lenten season, may I come before you to be with you.  Shift my focus from me to you
In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
